Marguerite Peg Raftery Webley
Marguerite Peg Raftery Webley, 76, of Piney Point, MD and formerly of San Francisco, CA, died on September 14, 2004 at her home. Born on January 14, 1928 in New York, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret Kenney Donovan. She is survived by her loving husband, Howard Birt Webley whom she married in April 1991 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Ridge, MD. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 35 years, William James Raftery, in 1986. Mrs. Webley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and George F. Bonifant III of Bryantown, MD and grandchildren Ryan and Angela Ridgell of Honolulu, Hawaii, Brady and Molly Ridgell of Leonardtown, MD, Shea Ridgell of California, MD and Reagan Ridgell of Cockeysville, MD. Mrs. Webley was a graduate of St. Cecilia’s High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1971. She relocated to St. Mary’s County in January, 1972 from Subic Bay Phillipines and taught at St. John’s School in Hollywood, MD and St. Michael’s School in Ridge, MD during the 1970’s and 1980’s. She was an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and St. Georges Catholic Church in Valley Lee and was an avid reader and follower of world events. The family received friends on September 16 at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on September 17 in St. George’s Catholic Church with Reverend Mark Ervin officiating and Deacon George L’Heureux co-officiating. Interment followed in St. Michaels Cemetery in Ridge, MD. Pallbearers were Brady Ridgell, Shea Ridgell, Bryce Webley, Ron Darr, Shel Russell and Michael Russell.
