Mary Lillian Raley Taylor, 104
Mary Lillian Raley Taylor, 104 of Ridge, MD died on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at her
nephews home in Ridge, MD.
Born on September 17, 1899 in Scotland, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Ignatius
and Susan Jean Gatton Raley.
Mrs. Taylor spent most of her life living on Wynne Road in Ridge, MD and the last several
years living in the home of her nephew James Raley, where she was well loved. She was a
member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Michaels
Ladies of Charity. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, crocheting and socializing with
numerous family, friends, and neighbors. She was affectionately known as Miss Lillian by
her three stepchildren and Aunt Lea to her numerous relatives and friends. What a gift she
has given to all of us to have shared her life with us.
She is survived by one sister, Sister Mary Ignatia of the Convent of Mary Immaculate, in
West Hartford, CT, two nephews, and their wives, James and Mary (Snooky) Raley, and Joe
and Trudy Raley all of Ridge, MD, two nieces, Mary Frances Raley of Silver Spring, MD and
Helen Jensen of TN, one stepson, Francis Taylor of St. Marys City, MD and numerous
grand nieces, grand nephews, godchildren and step grandchildren. In addition to her
husband Lamar Q. Taylor whom she married on February 10, 1945, at St. Michaels
Catholic Church, Ridge, MD, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley,
Clyde (her twin), Harry and Howard Raley and two stepsons, Lawrence and Joe Taylor.
Friends gathered on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Ridge
MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at
11:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Taylor will be Frank Taylor Jr., Bruce Scheible, Ronnie Yeatman,
Bobby Cooper, William Boyd Radford and Tim Raley.
