Mildred Merle “Millie” Russell, 76, of California, MD died on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD.

Born on September 3, 1927 in Ceredo, WV, she was the daughter of the late David and Coller Pelfrey McCoy.

Millie moved to St. Mary’s County in 1946 from Ceredo, WV. She worked as a District Manager for 35 years at the JF Theater and the Lowe Theater in Lexington Park, MD, the Park Rexall Drugs in Lexington Park, MD and she was also a Hostess for the Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD for the past 6 years. She spent her free time reading the bible, nurturing her green thumb in gardening, making pillows by hand and doing ceramics. She enjoyed celebrating the holidays with family and passed on many traditions to her children.

She is survived by her children, Rosalind “Becky” Burgess of Randolph, VT, Alice L. Rubic of Wilkes Barre, PA, Patricia Meier of Prince Frederick, MD, Donald L. Russell and David R. Russell, Sr. both of California, MD, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, James B. Russell, Jr., one sister and three brothers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23, 2004 from 3:00 until 6:30 pm at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. Prayers will be recited at 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2004 at 10:00 am in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend F. Paul Liersemann will officiate. Interment will follow in the Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
