Money Turned Red in Bank Robbery in White Oak
 

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Robbery Section are investigating an armed robbery of the Provident Bank at 11161 New Hampshire Avenue in the White Oak neighborhood of Silver Spring.

On December 4, at 12:36 p.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to the Provident Bank for the report of a bank robbery. Arriving officers learned that a lone suspect vaulted the teller counter, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. He obtained an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency then left through the main door. He was last seen running towards a nearby 7-Eleven.

Officers en route to the bank found some of the stolen cash covered in red ink from the exploded dye pack next to the 7-Eleven. A search of the area was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, 6’0” to 6’01” tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a baseball hat.
