More D.C. Crime Spillover as Robbers Tried to Steal
ATM from Burchmart
WALDORF --- Hipity hop, they come hopping down the burglar and robber bunny trail
from D.C to Waldorf, from Rt. 210 to Berry Road (Rt. 228). Brazen robbers and burglars are
once again beseiging the Burchmart located just west of Waldorf. A recent armed
robbery resulted in the store closing at midnight instead of continuing in 24 hour service
for it's customers. Now Charles Sheriff's Department public information officer
Kristen Adkins reports that on Saturday May 22 at 4:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's
Officers responded to the Burchmart in the 1000 block of Berry Road in Waldorf for the
report of a burglary. These robbers had no interest in carrots, just the cash. Police say
that the robbers attempted to steal an ATM machine from the business. Evidently the
burglars should have brought along a fork lift, as they couldn't remove the ATM and fled.
Two employees inside the business fled and were not injured. Anyone with
information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at
301-932-7777. Officer R. Peters is investigating.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Sometime between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. on May 22, suspect(s)
punctured several tires on Oak Street and Maple Street in Indian Head and then fled the
scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County
Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer R. Kimble is investigating.
TRESPASS: On May 21 at 11:50 p.m., David Carroll Bryan, 27, of Indian Head was allegedly
asked to leave the V.F.W. in the 4300 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head and not
return. Bryan allegedly left but returned to the establishment. He was charged with
Trespassing on Private Property and transported to the Charles County Detention Center
where he was released by a District Court Commissioner on personal recognizance. Officer
R. Gilroy investigated.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Sometime between 12 p.m. on May 17 and 8 a.m. on May 22,
suspect(s) used an unknown weapon to shoot holes at the siding on a residence in the 4200
block of Strauss Avenue in Indian head and fled the scene. Anyone with information about
this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222.
Officer R. Kimble is investigating.
THEFT: Sometime between 7:30 p.m. on May 19 and 7 a.m. on May 20, suspect(s) stole the
rear registration plate from a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the Safeway in the
3100 block of Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road. The plate bears Maryland registration
62N183. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County
Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer R. Snyder is investigating.
BURGLARY: Sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on May 19, suspect(s) forced entry into
a residence in the 100 block of Stoddert Avenue in Waldorf and fled the scene. Initial
investigation reveals nothing was stolen. Anyone with information about this incident is
asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer E. Baker
#414 and Officer J. Jones is investigating.
