MURDER INVESTIGATION UPDATE:
Police Say Dead Man Was Killed
in Baltimore, Dumped in Waldorf
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reports that they
have tentatively identified the victim whose partial remains were found in
Waldorf on May 3 and further determined the victim was murdered in Baltimore
City, Md. The murder will be investigated by Baltimore City Police Department
homicide detectives.
Although the victim has been tentatively identified,
police say that the name will not be released until the next of kin have been
notified by the Baltimore City Police Department. Evidence from the initial
crime scene led Sheriff’s detectives to Baltimore City, where they determined a
man matching the description of the deceased had been missing for several days.
Sheriff’s detectives and Baltimore detectives executed a search warrant at the
victim’s home and discovered evidence indicating the murder had taken place at
that location. Detectives identified suspects from evidence at the Baltimore
address.
On May 6, detectives discovered additional remains of
the deceased in a field in the 16000 block of Gardner Road, which is
approximately 1.5 miles north of the Charles County line in southern Prince
George’s County. Detectives were led to the site following interviews conducted
overnight. The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical
Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
Baltimore Police homicide detectives anticipate filing
for charges in this case before the end of the day.
Charles County Sheriff Frederick E. Davis commended his
detectives for their hard work during this investigation. “Some of our
detectives have been working for three days straight putting together the little
pieces of this big puzzle,” he said. “I am proud of their tenacity. Even though
detectives were initially only working with partial remains and the victim had
not been reported missing to the police, it is a testament of their
determination they were able to identify the victim, locate the crime scene and
identify suspects.”
“This was an outstanding example of a text-book,
multi-jurisdictional joint investigation between the Sheriff’s Office, Baltimore
City Police Department, Prince George’s County Police Department and Office of
the Chief Medical Examiner,” Sheriff Davis said.
