Navy Personnel Website Taken Over by Hackers
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The United States Naval Bureau
of Personnel website (www.bupers.navy.mil) was taken over by hackers early today, and
according to first reports, users were redirected to a porn site.
But according to U. S. Navy public affairs officer Commander Randall Lescault, the traffic
intended to the site did not go to a porn site but instead was sent to the State of
Delaware Department of Transportation.
"It is hard to determine if this action came about because of routine hackers or had
some terror connection," said Commander Lescault, "but we hope to have the site
back online sometime later today. It is certainly a violation of our security, at
any rate."
