NEW POLLING SHOWS
O’MALLEY/BROWN LEAD AT 6
Larger Sample Shows Larger Lead
Baltimore, MD (November 1, 2006) – Polling during the same three day period as the Baltimore Sun/Potomac poll, October 28-30, a new Garin Hart Yang survey shows that Martin O’Malley maintaining a six-point lead over Bob Ehrlich – 50% to 44%.
The Garin Hart Yang poll (see attached polling memo) surveyed 900 likely voters compared to the 800 in the Sun/Potomac poll. The Garin Hart Yang poll also tracks with an October 28 Rasmussen poll showing O’Malley winning 50%-45% and an October 31 Wall Street Journal/Zogby poll that has O’Malley up 49.3%-43.9% – as well as being more in line with the October 29 Washington Post poll, which had the race at 55% to 45%. All of the published polls show the incumbent Ehrlich falling well short of 50% with six days to go.
“Martin O’Malley and Anthony Brown remain in the lead because people are looking for change. They want a governor who sides with their interests, not special interests,” said Hari Sevugan, O’Malley/Brown Communications Director. “This race will come down to turnout. And that’s why we are working hard every day in every corner of the state to make sure every voter gets to the polls, and that’s why Bob Ehrlich is trying to get them to stay at home.”
