The Maryland State Prosecutor Selection and Disabilities Commission invites submission of applications for nomination to the State Prosecutors Office vacated by the death of Steven Montanarelli, Esquire. Eligibility for applicants is governed by Maryland Annotated Code, State Government Article, § 9-1201, which provides, in part, that eligible individuals must:
Execute an affidavit under oath that the individual will not accept appointment to, or be a candidate for, any State or local office, whether appointed or elective, during the period of service as the State Prosecutor, and for a three year period after the individual last serves as the State Prosecutor, and
At the time of appointment, have
actively and lawfully practiced law in the State of
The Commission seeks applicants who have displayed in their legal professional lives sound judgment, solid legal knowledge, extensive experience in the prosecution and/or defense of criminal matters, high ethics and unquestionable integrity in all of their conduct.
Upon nomination by the Commission, an individual may be appointed State Prosecutor by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate for a term of six (6) years and until a successor is appointed and qualifies. The salary of the State Prosecutor is not less than the salary of a Circuit Court Judge.

Prosecutor and application instructions, which are available to be downloaded from the
Maryland State Bar Association website at MSBA.org, or may be obtained in hard copy from
