![]() Tearful Tommy Question: what three words does Hambone have to say now that the election is over? Answer: "paper or plastic". photo courtesy of The Baynet What a crybaby...Hambone laments election loss, blames The Rag Baynet readers reply to McKay baloney... what about his lying for years about obtaining a college degree, hiding evidence from police in his office and trying to cook up a back room deal to give away public land at cost to a politically connected developer? Heck, none of Hambone's sleaziness had anything to do with his loss...The Rag is proud to take full credit and to Hambone: Thank you very much! ST. MARY'S TODAY is proud to have supported Sen. Roy Dyson in this election and to recommend to our readers to cast their votes for him. It is with great pride that our endorsements for election, both for Republicans and Democrats, were agreed with by the voters across the board and that this was the first newspaper in the state to support the candidacy of Gov.-Elect Martin O'Malley. Why did O'Malley get our support? It is simple, he adopted a transportation plank in his platform which supported commuter rail for Southern Maryland, backed Sen. Dyson's transportation study and fixing our lame bridges over the Potomac and Patuxent Rivers. Accomplishing these tasks will take tremendous efforts and the first step is to recognize the problem and then proceed. Ehrlich and McKay said that we didn't have a problem, until their polling revealed to them that they were on the wrong side of the issue from the voters, then two weeks before the election they flip-flopped. Hambone says he is going to concentrate on opening more grocery stores, running his new newspaper and watching Democrats fail to deliver on election promises...Hambone, please pose for a picture with the degree you claimed you had for the past four years and why would you blame a county employee for your own lies? |

Solomon's Sex-tacy
Lt. Homer Rich of the Maryland State Police reports that he cannot find any reports or records of troopers responding to a Solomon's motel in October for a report of a man causing a disturbance as a result of a domestic dispute. The allegation that an elected official from St. Mary's was involved in the incident, while having a liaison with someone other than his wife, was amazingly denied by one such official on Friday, who called ST. MARY'S TODAY to assert his innocence in the matter. The call came in spite of the fact that NO ONE was named in the promo for this story carried online earlier this week. So at this point, the boss of the alleged girlfriend of the perpetrator has requested that her name not be used, and it won't, and the man who obviously wants to claim to be the randy guy but at the same time, deny any involvement, since his wife was with him when he called, also demanded to know who ratted on him...why would he care if he was as pure as the driven snow? The wife wanted to know why God hasn't struck The Shadow dead and continues to allow him to walk the earth....The Shadow will be seeking further information from police in Calvert. Any other officials who wish to deny it was them to can call at their leisure. Those wishing to claim to be the Rudolph Valentino of Solomon's Island will have to pay to have their name used... |

| Christmas shopping at the St. Charles Mall? Pack your own heat as the armed robbery season has kicked off with another armed robbery of shoppers, in broad daylight at the Waldorf mall. Police report that on Sunday at 4:30 pm, Charles County Sheriff's patrol officers responded to a call for a robbery. They report that two men were walking in the parking lot outside of Dick's Sporting Goods when they were approached by three men. One of the robbers knocked one of the victims to the ground and when his friend attempted to help him, the other assailants then clobbered the second victim and knocked him to the ground. The violent hoodlums then produced a stun gun and used it on both victims. The robbers then stole the victim's shoes, wallets and jackets. The punks were described as black males between 16 to 18 years of age, wearing dark clothing and black jackets and last seen running towards Macy's. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer W. Halt is investigating. |
Collapse Coming in Charles Cop Coverage Who was with who in the Solomon's motel room? While Christmas crime gets a head start, the Charles County Sheriff's Office is imploding.....newly elected Sheriff-Elect Rex Coffee had such horrible results of his transition meeting with the ranking commanders of the Charles County Sheriff's Dept. that six of the career officers have put in for retirement, leaving the agency in chaos, thanks to the management style of the new Sheriff. With 13,000 new Democrat voters in Charles County, Coffee was selected by people who don't know him to do a job he doesn't know....or, a new broom sweeps clean and a new Sheriff can bring to play his own team to run things.... Which is it? only The Shadow knows for sure....and speaking of chaos....there was a recent incident at the Holiday Inn at Solomon's in which a St. Mary's County elected official, the week before the election, was caught in a motel room by his wife's son, in the company of someone other than his wife, while his wife was out of town at a conference. Police were called to quiet down the noise caused by the captured philander, caught in the act...gee, we thought this stuff only happened in the grocery store tabloids with movie stars, strippers, princes and US Senators....more on this juicy gossip in Cheap Shots this week... |

Election Screw-up St. Mary's County set new records for fouling up the election returns on Tuesday night. At one point the IT office and the election office issued results showing that more than 50,000 people had voted. What had happened was that the results were doubled and then released to the public and the media. The figures were used by one local online website which had personnel unfamiliar with the historic voting trends in the county and they trusted the information from the county and used it, later apologizing to its visitors for the error. Election results from the St. Mary's Board of Elections Supervisors have never been so badly conducted. Watch for changes at this agency from top to bottom. |

Newsstands cleaned out of weekly
newspaper on eve of election....no
kidding, it's happened again, this week in Kentucky, all for the
express purpose of preventing voters from reading articles about
candidates prior to voting. The actions of St. Mary's
States Attorney Richard Fritz, St. Mary's Sheriff Richard
Voorhaar and seven deputies when they raided St. Mary's County
newsstands of ST. MARY'S TODAY on election day 1998, was the
subject of a
landmark ruling by the United States
Court of Appeals which said that law officers may not violate
the constitutional rights of a newspaper and it's readers by
cleaning out newsstands as the news coverage is critical of the
officers and their official conduct.
Finally, the court
found the deputies’ behavior to be exactly the kind of
censorship that the First Amendment had been designed to
prevent. The Fourth Circuit stated that, “censorship is equally
virulent whether carried out by official representatives of the
state or by private individuals acting out of a self-interested
hope in receiving or maintaining benefits from the state.”

| Bridge shut down on
Monday night until nearly nine...Ehrlich Administration opposed
Dyson bill to add second span over Patuxent at Solomons. LEONARDTOWN At just a few minutes prior to 5 pm, twin wrecks took place on St. Andrews Church Road, one at the infamous Rt. 4/Rt. 5 intersection just south of Leonardtown and another at Indian Bridge Road. The wreck at Rt. 5 has a reported occupant of one vehicle ejected, which is never good news as the process of flying out of a vehicle, passing through a windshield and landing on a roadway is often fatal. More details as the become available. A wreck near or at the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge had traffic already backed up and now those heading towards Leonardtown ought use Rt. 235 to Hollywood and then cut over to the Walled City of Leonardtown. |

Driver Dead after Saturday
Wreck HOLLYWOOD --- St. Mary's Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Morley reports that on 11-04-06 members of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the area of Rt. 235 and Rt.245 for the reported fatal motor vehicle accident. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Ford Focus driven by William AndrewBolt (44) of Lexington Park, MD. was driving southbound on Rt 235 just south of Rt 245 when it crossed the grassy median. Mr. Bolt's vehicle then crossed both northbound lanes of Rt. 235 striking a curb on the northbound side. The vehicle then proceeded south against the northbound curb, crossing a driveway entrance striking another curb. Mr. Bolt's vehicle then went airborne and overturned coming to rest on its wheels. As a result of the collision Mr. Bolt received fatal injuries and succumbed to those injuries at St. Mary's Hospital. Preliminary Investigation revealed alcohol was not a contributing factor of the collision and occupant protection equipment was utilized properly. PCP Driver Fled Crash, Broke into House at Twin Shields Country Club DUNKIRK --- Calvert deputies were quick to nab their man on Saturday when a man who was involved in a 3-vehicle crash fled the scene and broke into a house, reports Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans. | Hoyer Rallies Democrats on Eve of Election CALLAWAY --- Congressman Steny Hoyer spent the morning in his home district of Southern Maryland, after sprinting across the nation in search of a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. In downtown Callaway, in his home St. Mary's County, he told assembled Democrats for a Democrat Unity Breakfast at the Crystal Room, that the Bush Administration has been the most inept administration in a time of war in the history of the nation, squandering lives of American personnel and our national treasure as well. Hoyer blasted Bush for his deficit and while admitting he has support U.S. policy in Iraq, told his fellow Democrats that no one knew that US policy would be carried out so badly, so completely incompetent. |
