Juanito Causin Roa, M.D., 77
Juanito Causin Roa, M.D., 77, of Hollywood, MD, died on Monday, March 1, 2004 at his residence.
Born on June 12, 1926 in Cebu City, Philippines, he was the son of the late Jose R. Roa and Mercedes Causin Roa. Dr. Roa received his formal education and training at Ateneo de Cagayan De Oro, Cebu College and Santo Tomas University Medical School in Manila.He moved to St. Mary’s County from Baltimore, MD in 1964. Dr. Roa was a member of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD, Rotary Club of Lexington Park, St. Mary’s, De La Brooke Foxhounds W and the St. Mary’s Riding Club.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Marie Myers Roa, whom he married on August 23, 1960 at Holy Trinity Church, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., a daughter, Cristina Marie Roa Sommese and her husband Jock M. Sommese of Radnor, PA, a son, Mark Thomas Roa and his wife Kristine I. Roa of Gainesville, GA and six grandchildren, Thomas William Roa, John Michael Roa, David Andrew Roa, Grace Catherine Roa, Ralph John Sommese and Gabrielle Marie Sommese.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 4, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. in Leonardtown, MD. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 5, 2004, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 43927 St. John’s Road, Hollywood, MD 20636. The Reverend Ray Schmidt will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Felix R. Laurel, John McFadden, James Kenny, John Briscoe, Jim Marsh, John P. Huber, Clarke Raley and Dr. Youngsik Moon. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the medical society.
