Robert Carroll Dyson, 78, Army Veteran,
Businessman

Robert Carroll Dyson, 78, of Lexington Park, MD, died on Wednesday, May
19, 2004 at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.
Born on January 17, 1926 in Pearson, MD, he was the son of the late Oden Miles Dyson and
Margaret Watts Dyson. Mr. Dyson served his country in the US Army. He was a self- employed
automobile mechanic.
Carroll Dyson was the long-time operator of Dyson's Service Center in Great Mills and was a fixture in the local business community until he retired about ten years ago. His gas station and towing business served many customers, friends and family from the intersection of Rt. 5 and Great Mills Road with his tow truck staying busy around the clock, pulling cars and trucks out of ditches and removing the remains of bent and bruised hulks after highway crashes.
A jovial and good humored country gentleman, Carroll Dyson typified the hard working
generation which is quietly slipping away into history.
He is survived by his wife, Sharen Lee Willis Dyson of Lexington Park, MD, 16 children,
Carolyn Jane Geyer-Joyce of New Hamburg, NY, Robert Paul Dyson of Arvada, CO, Joanne Marie
ONeil of San Pedro, CA, Amy Jeanette Dyson of Key West, FL, Dorothy Andrea Dyson of
California, MD, William Richard Blazer, Thomas Mitchell Blazer, Michelle Laurel Marble,
Jennifer Lynn Sivak, George Martin Owens and Mark Edward Owens all of Lexington Park, MD,
Robin Lynn Schultz of Allentown, PA, John Scott Blazer of Great Mills, MD, Julie Ann
Blazer of Tampa, FL and Constance Fay Walden of Bradenton, Fl, numerous grandchildren and
great grandchildren, one brother, William Dyson of Valley Lee, MD. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Louise Dyson-Shields, two sisters,
Margaret Clarke, Edith Thompson, and five brothers, John Dyson, Martin Dyson, James Dyson,
Edward Dyson and Brent Dyson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at
Holy Face Catholic Church , Great Mills, MD. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Face
Catholic Church. The Reverend Kevin OReilly will be the celebrant. Interment will
follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Thompson, Chris Thompson, Danny OConnor, Lee
Dyson, Edward Dyson, Bruce Sivak, Donald Goddard and Shane Marble.

339, Lexington Park, MD 20653 or the St. Marys Friendly Fund, 21943 Point Lookout
Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
