| Sara Frances “Fran”
Longfield, 74, of Lexington Park, MD died on June 8, 2004 at her home in Lexington Park,
MD. She was born on March 30, 1930 in Midland, GA. She is survived by her former spouse,
MSGYT Melvin Ross Longfield, III. Fran is survived by her sons Melvin Ross and wife, Rose
Mary of Chaptico, MD, Charles Paul and wife, Melinda of Medicine Bow WY, and her daughter,
Mary Helen Garner of Lexington Park, MD. Fran is survived by five grandchildren, Michael
Patrick Longfield, Michael Stinson, Nicole D. Stinson, Kevin J. Hephner and Heather M.
Hephner. There are also five great-grandchildren, Alexis Nichole Longfield, Chase Michael
Longfield, Bryan Douglas McDonald, Jr., Hunter James Guy, and Hannah Nicole Guy. She is
survived by a sister, Margaret Peck of Palm Bay, FL, and brothers, Paul Smith and Charles
Smith, both of Green Cove Springs, FL. She is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her sisters, Vera Meeker of Deland, FL, Annie May Slayton of
Green Cove Springs, FL, Marion Justice of Deland, FL. Fran attended Reynolds High School
in Reynolds, GA and moved to St. Mary’s County from Wren, GA in 1971. She was
employed for over twenty years by the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department at
Patuxent River, MD prior to her retirement as Lead Bartender at the Flight Deck Lounge in
February, 2004. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 13, 2004, from 2 - 5 pm at
the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. A funeral service will be held in the
Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 14, 2004 at 10 am with Rev. Philip
Ayers officiating. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to the Lymphoma
Leukemia Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605. |
