SMECO Rates Searing To the Edito

I'm sitting here in shock once again after opening my monthly electric bill. I feel like I've been pillaged, raped and not even gotten a kiss out of the deal. I might as well just bend over and let them have the rest of me. What is going on with this electric company??? I know they put out some kind of warning about rates going up....blah blah blah.....but for God's sake this is ridiculous. As a single mother on a limited income its becoming increasingly more difficult for me financially. Where does this end and who cares about folks like me? I can imagine how bad the elderly are feeling this crunch. It's bad enough that I feel penalized because I choose to continue to "drive my car" instead of taking the bus. My landlord wants more rent, the gas company keeps taking its bite, now the electric company wants a piece of me as well. Oddly enough Verizon is the only one kind enough to offer me a rate that's locked in with lots of nice little extras. I can count on that to stay the same. As for anything else forget it. I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in the land of the rich & that I don't belong here. Before long it won't matter....I won't be able to afford to live here. My son now works and generously contributes to our daily bills. Just when you feel there may be a little breather and you can rest easy good old SMECO takes that away. I will say this...they are great about working with you on your bill and for that I am grateful. But then what have they got to lose? Please is there any one who can stop this madness?
