Justus in Jail

HOLLYWOOD == St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Cpl. Katherine Dassing reports that on 11-26-04 Deputy DFC Richard W. Russell responded to the report of a Theft of a Motor Vehicle in the Hollywood area. The Victim reported that his vehicle had been taken and not returned by Suspect Deborah Marie Justus. DFC Russell continued his investigation with assistance from SDFC Kevin D. Somerville and subsequently they located the vehicle and Suspect Justus in the Mechanicsville area. Suspect Justus was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Suspect Justus was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and is currently awaiting a court date.

PRINCE FREDERICK --- On 11-11, TPR Schmidt responded to the Whispering Woods subdivision, Prince Frederick, for a vandalism complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had used paint to deface a sign, a picnic table, and a sliding board.

PRINCE FREDERICK --- On 11-19, TFC Bennett responded to Calvert Pines, Prince Frederick, for a destruction of property complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had tried to pry open the area around the money slots.

Holiday Warrant Roundup

Officers from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, and two Parole and Probation Officers joined forces to make several arrest of persons wanted on outstanding warrants for crimes committed in the C-SAFE area of Lexington Park. The following persons were arrested as part of this initiative to reduce crime and reduce crime by repeat offenders.

LEXINGTON PARK --- On 11/9/04, at 9:20 p.m., Tpr. M. W. Laney served a criminal summons on Monte C. J. Burroughs, 38, of Lexington Park. Mr. Burroughs is charged with six counts of theft. Mr. Burroughs is charged with the theft of tags from several car dealerships where he was employed.

Ulanda Charged with Whacking Police Car

LEXINGTON PARK --- On 11/10/04, at 6:05 p.m., Tpr. M. W. Laney served a criminal summons on Ulanda Elbeth Bennett-Campbell, 21, of Lexington Park for malicious destruction of property. Ms. Bennett is accused of damaging a Maryland State Police vehicle on 9/8/04.

Man Charged with Beating Woman

LEXINGTON PARK --- On 11/13/04, at 4:24 p.m., Tpr. F. V. Dolinger responded to a residence on Rodine Way in Lexington Park for a reported assault. John Edward Clopper, 22, of Hollywood was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of 2nd degree assault on a 20 year old female at the residence. Mr. Clopper was also charged with malicious destruction of property. Mr. Clopper was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.

A Webb of Whacky Tobaccy

MECHANICSVILLE --- On 11/13/04, at 6:15 p.m., Tpr. E. M. Evans initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Route 5 at Route 247 in Loveville for a traffic violation. The driver, Matthew Blair Webb, 18, of Mechanicsville was placed under arrest for driving while suspended. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Mr. Webb was also charged with possession of marijuana. Mr. Webb was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Wildewood Tag Team Plucks Numbers

CALIFORNIA --- Between 11/16/04 at 5:30 p.m. and 11/17/04 at 11:00 unknown suspect(s) removed the front and rear Maryland registration plates, FVX204, from a vehicle parked at a residence on Sugar Maple Court in California. Tpr. M. W. Laney is conducting this investigation.

HOLLYWOOD --- On 11/21/04, at 9:50 a.m., TFC A. J. Rossignol and Tpr. E. M. Evans responded to Ricky Drive in Hollywood for a reported unwanted guest. Angela Marie Howe, 32, of no fixed address was placed under arrest and charged with trespassing. Search incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana in Ms. Howe’s jacket pocket. Ms. Howe was also charged with possession of marijuana. Ms. Howe was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Burglar’s Yard Work

WALDORF --- Sometime between Nov. 9 and Nov. 15, suspect(s) forced entry into a shed at a residence in the 600 block of University Drive in Waldorf, stole a leaf blower and a weed eater and fled the scene. Officer C. Gregory is investigating.

Burglar Plans on Being Couch Potato

WALDORF --- Sometime between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 2300 block of Lambeth Hill Drive in Waldorf, stole video games and several DVDs and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer C. Gregory is investigating.

Crack Dealer Not A Crack Driver, Drove Over Officer’s Foot

WALDORF --- On Nov. 10 at 11:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on St. Charles Parkway at Post Office Road in Waldorf on a vehicle suspected to be involved in the distribution of crack cocaine. The driver, Richard Lee Mclain, 29, of Waldorf, stopped the vehicle but fled in the vehicle when officers approached him. When Mclain fled, he drove over an officer’s foot, but the officer was not injured. Officers pursued Mclain to nearby Melrose Court, where Mclain slowed his vehicle, exited it and fled on foot toward Dr. Mudd Elementary School. The vehicle continued to move until it struck an unoccupied parked car. Officers pursued Mclain on foot and quickly apprehended him in the wooded area near the school. He was arrested and a search revealed he was in possession of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,400, as well as marijuana. Mclain was charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, Second Degree Assault, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Fleeing and Eluding and other traffic violations. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer C. Gregory investigated.

 

Woman Plunged Steak-knife Into Hubby’s Stomach

HOLLYWOOD —— On Saturday, 11-20-04 the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to St. Mary’s Hospital for a reported stabbing. Investigation revealed that the victim, Victor Thomas Demko, and his wife/suspect, Jo Ann Demko were involved in a domestic altercation on 11-19-04 at their residence in Hollywood, MD.

State Police Cpl. Roger Redmond reports that during the altercation Jo Ann Demko stabbed her husband in the abdomen with a steak knife.

Victor Demko drove himself to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Upon arrival medical personnel determined Victor Demko’s injuries were severe and he needed immediate emergency surgery.

Jo Ann Demko was arrested and charged with Assault and Reckless Endangerment. Jo Ann Demko was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center awaiting appearance before the District Court Commissioner

Alleged Drug Dealers Charged in Undercover Operation

LEONARDTOWN — According to St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Sgt. Edward Willenborg, police conducted a warrant sweep for subjects recently Indicted for various violations of Maryland Drug Laws. The sweep was the culmination of an extended buy operation where police operatives purchased controlled dangerous substances from multiple subjects within St. Mary’s County. The following is a list of the subjects that were located and served with Grand Jury Indictments during the sweep.

During the arrest of James Foley Somerville at a Mechanicsville home, Francis Victoria Chase, 52, was arrested for assaulting Dfc Christopher Morley 113 and hindering a police investigation.

Wayne Anthony Briscoe, 35, of Great Mills was found in Possession of Cocaine during the seizure of a motor vehicle that had been used several months earlier to facilitate the distribution of Cocaine. Briscoe was arrested and charged with possession of Cocaine.

Paul Solomon Smallwood, 46, from Lexington Park was picked up and charged on a Statement of Probable Cause for Possession of Cocaine and Distribution of Cocaine .
