A Charles County Sheriff's Patrol Officer was killed on Monday afternoon at about 4:15 pm when he lost control of his personal motorcycle while off-duty and struck a curb in Waldorf.

According to Charles County Sheriff's spokesman Kristen Adkins, Cpl. Paul Morgan, 46, an 18 year veteran of the agency, was pronounced dead after he was ejected from his motorcycle at St. Nicolas Drive and Smallwood Drive West. He was wearing a helmet and the crash is under investigation by the Charles County Sheriff's crash unit.

Corporal Morgan is survived by his wife and children. Details on his services will be provided soon along with a statement from Sheriff Fred Davis.
