Summer's Battling Boyfriend and Boozing Pot-Packing Driver
CALIFORNIA --- St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Cpl. Jeffrey McLane reports that on July 19, 2004, at 1:00 am, Deputy Eva Snyder and DFC Edward Evans were near the intersection of Rt. 237 and Rt. 235 when they observed a commotion in the parking lot of Hickory Hills Center. When they investigated, the deputies report that a gold Mercedes being driven by Charles William Ward of Leonardtown had stopped and that Summer Ventre of Leonardtown had gotten out of the vehicle and was chased down by Joshua Young and forced back into the vehicle. Dep. Snyder alleged that Joshua Young and Summer Ventre are boyfriend/girlfriend and that he had grabbed her and forced her back into the vehicle after an earlier argument. Joshua Young was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault. DFC Evans reported he had observed the vehicle driving on Chancellors Run Road. The driver Charles Ward had been drinking. Ward was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving under the influence. A search incident to arrest revealed a marijuana smoking device in the vehicle. He was charged with possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS Paraphernalia.
