Youth Arrested for Attempted Murder of a Police Officer

The Prince George’s County Police Department has arrested a man responsible for the Attempted Murder of a police officer that occurred in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.

On September 2, 2004, police say that 17-year-old Ronald Anthony Bryant was arrested without further incident in the 5000 block of Silver Hill Court in Suitland, Maryland. He was charged as an adult with First Degree Assault and is being held at the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro on a $25,000 bond.

On August 26, 2004, at approximately 7:55 p.m., a Prince George’s County Police Officer observed a vehicle being operated in the 200 block of West Mill Avenue with several juveniles hanging on the hood of the car.  Upon seeing the officer, the juveniles jumped off of the vehicle and fled on foot.  The officer then approached the driver of the vehicle, who also fled on foot into a wooded area.  The officer was able to catch the driver in the wooded area where a struggle ensued.  During the course of the struggle, a silver revolver fell from the suspect’s waist area.  The suspect was then able to pick up the gun and fire a shot at the officer.  Fearing for his life, the officer returned fire and the suspect fled further into the woods.  The officer was not injured during the confrontation.

Anyone with further information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s District III Investigative Section at (301) 772-4911.  The investigation is continuing.
