Tahoe Washed Away into
Mattawoman Creek!
LA PLATA
(April 4, 2005) A motorist who got his SUV stuck on the shoulder of Rt. 225 near
the bridge on Mattawoman Creek on Saturday evening told Charles County Sheriff's
Officers he went to get assistance. But while he was gone, police were notified
that his 2004 Tahoe had been swept away by rising waters of Mattawoman Creek,
caused by sudden and heavy rainstorms, and washed downstream for some distance.
Firefighters were called out to search the area for possible occupants and a
phone call from police to the home of the registered owner revealed what had
happened according to Charles Sheriff's Public Information Officer Kristen
Atkins. It may be that it doesn't portend well for the future to buy a truck
named for a lake, especially if you leave it next to rising flood waters.
