Teen Hoodlum Busted Up Home, Cut Electronic Monitoriing Device
LEXINGTON PARK --- St. Mary's Sheriff's Dfc. Richard W. Russell responded to a Lexington Park residence for an
out of control juvenile. Upon arrival Dfc. Russell and other Deputies found the juvenile suspect had cut the electronic monitoring system from his person, cut the phone lines in the home and created numerous other property destructions throughout the home. The Suspect was arrested and transported to a Calvert County Hospital for mental health treatment
before further disposition will be made.
Wanted Man Attracted More Attention from the Law
CALIFORNIA ---
On July 5th, 2004 St. Mary's Sheriff's Deputy Somar Clark responded to the Wal-Mart Store in California for the reported theft. Upon her arrival she found that Suspect Joseph William Butler had stolen a cordless telephone from the establishment. Police report that Butler provided his personal information and was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Dfc. John W. Cusic responded to St. Mary's County Detention Center to serve a warrant on Joseph William Butler. Butler gave personal information to include his name and date of birth to an Officer and that information indicated that Butler was wanted. The warrant was through Prince George's County Maryland for Failure to Appear on the original charge of theft. Once the warrant was served a
Detention Center Corrections Officer noticed that  Joseph William Butler was actually John Fitzgerald Butler. A computer check revealed John F. Butler was wanted numerous times through the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department. Those warrants were for Theft under $500, Child Support, Failure to Appear on a Robbery Probation Violation and new
charges of False Statement to an Officer. Dfc. Richard W. Russell continued the investigation and made the positive identification and submitted the new charges. Suspect Butler had utilized that same alias in the Prince George's County Area when arrested and failed to appear. He began using the alias to avoid the other outstanding warrants. He is
currently incarcerated to await a bond hearing before the Circuit Court.


Old Guy Is The Bosse of Drugs
MECHANICSVILLE --- On 6/29/04, at 5:45 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman initiated a traffic stop on a
vehicle on Route 5 in Mechanicsville.  Upon contacting the driver, TFC Newman detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
A search incident to probable cause revealed a small plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana and a silver metallic CDS smoking device in the pants pocket of the suspect.   David Paul Bosse, 49 years, of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and CDS paraphernalia.  He was incarcerated in the Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Man Charged with Whopping Up On Woman
VALLEY LEE --- On 7/2/04, at 9:38 p.m., Maryland State Police TFC M. D. McLean responded to a residence on Bardmore Way in Valley Lee for a reported assault.  As a result, Drew MacDonald Thompson, 18, of Valley Lee, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and 2nd degree assault on a 48-year-old female at the residence.    Thompson was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Burglars Stole 3 Bushels of Crabs from Waterman
RIDGE --- State police report that on 7/3/04 between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m, unknown suspects removed three bushels of live crabs, valued at $240, from a refrigerated walk-in storage unit belonging to McKay's Seafood located on McKay Road in Ridge.   Tpr. R. B. Rezza is conducting this investigation.
Woman Charged with Beating Man
CALIFORNIA --- On 7/4/04, at 11:25 p.m., Tpr. T. H. Quade responded to Armsworthy Court in California for a reported assault.  As a result, Pamela Marlene Simmons, 38, of California, was arrested and charged with assaulting a 41-year-old male at the residence.    Simmons was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Purse Snatching at Sin City Gas Station
LEXINGTON PARK On 7/5/04, at 1:45 a.m., a victim advised that an unknown suspect removed her purse from her unlocked vehicle while she was in the Shell Gas Station located at Route 235 and Pegg Road in Lexington Park.  Tpr. T. H. Quade is conducting this investigation.
Crack Leads to Pot
WALDORF --- Maryland State Police report that on July 1, 2004 at 10:30 a.m.  a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. Rt. 301, south of MD Rt. 5, was stopped for a cracked windshield.  A computer check revealed the driver, Stephen Edward Doyle, 40, of Waldorf, was driving on a suspended license and the tags displayed on the vehicle was suspended.  Doyle was arrested and a search incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.   Doyle was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was also cited with
several traffic violations.  He was incarcerated in the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review.  Tfc. R. Lemerise conducted this investigation.
Stolen Tag Kept Man on the Road
NEWBURG --- Maryland State Police report that a vehicle leaving a service station in Newburg on July 2nd at 5:54 pm was observed to have the front mount attached to the rear tag.
The vehicle also had a cracked windshield.  A computer check revealed the tag was reported stolen through the Greenbelt Police Department, and the driver, Alphonso Lowell Thomas, 39, of Newburg, was driving on a suspended license.  Thomas was arrested and charged with theft.
He was also cited with several traffic violations.  Tfc. J. Scott conducted this investigation.
Drugs and Booze Make for Fast Cruise
NEWBURG --- 07/04/04   10:20 p.m.  A vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. Rt. 301, north of Mt. Air Road, was stopped for speeding.  The driver, Joey Arvind Sewchand, 25 years, of Newburg, was
arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.  A search incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Sewchand was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was incarcerated in the Charles
County Detention Center pending a bond review.  Tpr. L. Hewitt conducted this investigation.
