Cab Driver Shot to Death
At approximately 1:38 am, Friday, November 12, 2004, police were called to the 6800 block of 9th Street, NW, after a Yellow Cab had crashed into a parked vehicle. Upon arrival they located the driver of the cab suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 50-year-old Andrew Kamara of the 7500 block of Newberry Lane in Lanham, Maryland.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. The department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
Homicide in the 4400 Block of 14th Street, NW
At approximately 7 am on Friday, November 12, 2004, officers from the Fourth District were called to the 4400 block of 14th Street, NW, to investigate the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival officers located an adult male lying on the sidewalk at that location suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was subsequently transported to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner where he was pronounced dead.
The decedent in this case has been identified as 24-year-old Vaughn R. Taylor of the 7500 block of Eastern Avenue, NW.
