Two Charged with Murder
in Methadone Overdose
(June 1, 2005) On April 17th, 2005 detectives from the
St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) responded to Clements,
Maryland the reported death of a twenty-one (21) year old male identified as
Byron James Guy. No signs of trauma were noted however, a number of Methadose
pills were discovered inside his vehicle and witnesses were discovered who had
information the victim purchased the Methadose Pills and had consumed them
recently.
Detectives from the BCI Narcotics Division assisted in the investigation and two
(2) search and seizure warrants were executed at residences in Leonardtown, St.
Mary's County, Maryland. A large number of Methadose pills were recovered and
the suspects responsible for selling the pills to the victim were identified.
On April 18th, 2005 the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an
Autopsy on the victim and the final report listed the Cause of Death as
"Methadone Intoxication".
Bruce Lynn Wilmeth (50 years of age) of Leonardtown, MD was arrested by
detectives on May 27th, 2005 and Donald James Morrison (38 years of age) of
Leonardtown, MD was arrested on May 30th, 2005. Both were charged with 2nd
Degree Murder (Depraved Heart), Involuntary Manslaughter, Reckless Endangerment,
and Distribution of Methadone. An arrest warrant has been issued for a 3rd
suspect.
