Two College Students Seriously Injured
ST. JAMES --- On 10-09-06 at 1505 hours two St. Mary's College students
were
critically injured and one received minor injuries as a result of a
motor vehicle collision on Route 235 at Mattapany Road in St. James,
Maryland. The driver of a 1998 Ford Escort station wagon, Sean W
Goerling age 18 of Laurel, MD was traveling eastbound on Mattapany road
and attempted to turn left onto northbound MD Route 235. While crossing
the southbound lane of Route 235 Driver Goerling failing to yield the
right of way to a southbound 1996 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Leonard
L. Lozen age 60, of Valley Lee, MD. The Suburban struck the car on the
driver's side of the vehicle in the intersection. Critically injured in
the collision were the driver's side rear passenger of the car,
Alexandra Jiron age 20 of Silver Spring, MD. and the driver, Sean
Goerling, who were flown to Baltimore Trauma Center by MSP Trooper 7 and
2. The front seat passenger, Gina White age 19 of Eldersburg, MD
received minor injuries and was treated and released from St. Mary's
Hospital. The driver of the Suburban was not injured in the crash. No
contributing circumstances were uncovered on the part of Driver Lozen.
Investigation and charges are pending the results of the investigation
by SDFC David Corcoran and the St. Mary's County Collision
Reconstruction Investigative Team.
