Two Dead When Older
Driver Went Wrong Way on Rt. 301
A man born before American joined WWI,
Woodrow Wilson was in his first term as President and the Model T had yet to
become popular was operating his Chevy on Friday when he became confused and
went south in the northbound lanes of Rt. 301 and struck a northbound vehicle,
killing himself and his wife.
Maryland State Police report that on Friday, Feb. 11th at 8:34a.m. a 1990
Chevrolet Lumina being operated by John Edward Dameron, 91, of Bel Alton, was
traveling southbound on U.S. Rt. 301 north of Cherry Lane. He was going to make
a left onto Fairgrounds Road, but became confused and began to travel southbound
in the northbound lane. The Dameron vehicle struck a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer
being operated by Jennifer Lynn Lancaster, 22, of Issue, head-on. Mr. Dameron
and his passenger, Agnes Rice Dameron, of Issue, were pronounced dead on the
scene. Ms. Lancaster received incapacitating injuries and was flown to Prince
George's Hospital Shock Trauma by U.S. Park Police Helicopter, Eagle 1. TFC S.
Johnson conducting this investigation. TFC J. Zimmerman and TFC Vanbennekum are
handling the reconstruction.
