Weekend Booze Cruise Fatal
to Passenger
WALDORF --- Maryland State Police at the La Plata Barracks report that on Saturday,
November 6 at about 3:03 am,
a 1992 Mercury Tracer being operated by Marian Ayun-Ayun Suyat, 20, of Waldorf, was
traveling southbound
on MD Rt. 925, south of MD Business Rt. 5. For unknown reasons, the Suyat vehicle
crossed the center line into the northbound lane, traveled off the road, and hit a culvert
ditch and a telephone pole. Ms. Suyat and the front seat passenger in the vehicle,
Lawrence Joseph Tuitt, 22, of Cherry Point, NC, received incapacitating injuries and were
flown to Med-Star in Washington, D.C. by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 and U.S. Park
Police Eagle 1 helicopters. The back seat passenger, Shanika Shawntae Greenfield,
20, of Waldorf, was pronounced dead on the scene. The Maryland State Police CRASH
Team responded and will
be conducting the reconstruction of this accident. Preliminary investigation
revealed alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this accident. Trooper I.
Harrison is continuing the investigation.
