Willard Elton Wood
WWII U.S. Navy Veteran
Willard Elton Wood, 82 of Leonardtown, MD died at his
home on Saturday, May 28, 2005.
Born January 6, 1923 in Weston, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas Byron
and Maude Craft Wood.
Mr. Wood was a U.S. Navy veteran. After leaving the service he was employed at
General Motors as a disc brake inspector and later worked at the Harry Lundeberg
School of Seamanship in the security department retiring in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Marie (Polly) Wood and one sister, Ethel Baer
of Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Austin, Mary
Louise Lareau and June Wood and five brothers, Donald, Oliver, Stanley, Arthur
and Benton Wood.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the
Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. A funeral
service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Brinsfield
Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bruce Wietzke , pastor of Shepherd of the Bay
Lutheran Church, Hollywood, will officiate. Interment will follow in Charles
Memorial Gardens with John Meyers, Willard Sipiells, John Baran, John Crawford,
James Kopishke, Thomas Sanger, Tom Croson and Donald Cryer serving as
pallbearers.
