LEXINGTON PARK --- On 1/11/05, at 9:15 p.m., Tpr. E. M. Evans initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Shangri-La Drive at Essex Drive in Lexington Park for a traffic violation. A computer check of the driver, John Webster Wills, 35, of Lexington Park revealed his Maryland driving privileges were suspended. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected cocaine in the drivers door. Wills was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Wills was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.

LEXINGTON PARK --- On 1/15/05, at 4:04 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Route 246 and Surburban Drive in Lexington Park for a seatbelt violation. Upon contact with the driver, suspected marijuana in a plastic baggie was observed in plain view. As TFC Newman was attempting to place Melvin Lawrence Coleman, 21, of Lexington Park under arrest, Coleman attempted to flee. After a brief struggle Coleman was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia, resisting arrest and driving while suspended. Mr. Coleman was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.

LEXINGTON PARK --- On 1/16/05, at 5:30 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman responded to the Wawa in Lexington Park for the reported traffic complaint. A male subject began to cause a disturbance at the establishment. Terry Lee Sprouse, 56, of Waldorf was asked to leave numerous times and became disorderly. Sprouse was placed under arrest and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. Sprouse was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.

LEXINGTON PARK -- On 1/17/05, at 3:00 p.m., TFC A. J. Rossignol responded to Leesa Court in Lexington Park for the disturbance. Further investigation revealed a 14 year old female from Lexington Park had assaulted her mother. The juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack. The juvenile was processed and released to a parent pending action by juvenile authorities.
Crack Driver Makes Expressway to Slammer
MECHANICSVILLE --- On 1/18/05, at 9:08 p.m., Tpr. P. A. Trossbach initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 247 at Route 235 in Mechanicsville for a traffic violation. The driver, Joshua Michael Stone, 22, of Mechanicsville admitted to having suspected crack cocaine in the vehicle. Stone was subsequently placed under arrest for possession of crack cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Stone was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.

GREAT MILLS --- On 1/19/05, at 10:00 a.m., Tpr. E. M. Evans was patrolling in the area of Tri-Community Way in Great Mills when he observed a juvenile male not attending school. Upon contact with the juvenile, the juvenile admitted to skipping school. A strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the male. A probable cause search revealed suspected marijuana and a metal smoking device on the juvenile. The 16 year old male from Lexington Park was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The juvenile was processed and released to a parent pending action by juvenile authorities.

MECHANICSVILLE --- On 1/20/05, at 4:50 p.m., Tpr. L. N. Nims initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Golden Beach Road and Killpeck Creek Drive in Mechanicsville for a seatbelt violation. As the passenger was retrieving the registration from the glove box, a large metal smoking device was observed in plain view. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana and a bottle containing suspected oxycoton. Michael Allen Billard Johnson, 19, of Clements was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS- Oxycoton and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Johnson was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.
Stinky Air Leads to Drug Arrest of Deadhead
LEXINGTON PARK --- On 1/21/05, at 2:45 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 235 at Route 236 in Lexington Park for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed suspected marijuana in the vehicle and in the front pants pocket of the front seat passenger. Subsequently, Brian Charles Vance, 18, of Charlotte Hall and a 17 year old male passenger were placed under arrest. Both subjects were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The juvenile was transported and processed at the Leonardtown Barrack and was released to a parent pending action by juvenile authorities. Mr. Vance was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On 1/21/05, at 4:15 p.m., TFC J. L. Linger initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Route 234 and Long Road in Clements for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, a metal smoking device was in plain view in the ashtray of the vehicle. John Curtis Oliver, 25, of Bushwood was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Oliver was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.

HOLLYWOOD --- On 1/21/05, at 6:25 p.m., TFC J. L. Linger responded to Ruff Ruff Lane in Hollywood for the reported disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a 16 year old female from Hollywood was placed under arrest and charged with 2nd degree assault on her mother. The juvenile was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack. The juvenile was released to a parent pending action by juvenile authorities.

CALIFORNIA --- On 1/21/05, at 11:45 p.m., Tpr. L. N. Nims initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Route 235 and Airport Drive for a traffic violation. The vehicle did not stop and was observed throwing out a white object from the drivers side window. The vehicle continued making several turns in the Wildewood area. The vehicle subsequently came to a stop on White Oak Parkway. Upon contact with the driver, he admitted to having suspected marijuana on his person. The object that was thrown from the vehicle was retrieved. Keith Lamont Young, 31, of Mechanicsville was placed under arrest and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Young was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.
Lousy Driver Caused WreckLA PLATA --- On Jan. 27 at 7:17 p.m., a Dodge van driven by Tina Calista Pickeral, 42, of Charlotte Hall was traveling eastbound in the 11600 block of La Plata Road in La Plata when Pickeral attempted to pass a vehicle by entering the westbound lane of La Plata Road. The Dodge subsequently struck a Ford Ranger traveling westbound on La Plata Road. Pickeral and the driver of the Ford, Phillip Brent Mudd Jr., 52, of La Plata, sustained incapacitating injuries and were transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince Georges General Hospital. Charges are pending against Pickeral. Officer J. McGuigan is investigating.

Store in Center of Waldorf Hit By Gang of Redneck Burglars While Police Midnight Shift Dozed
WALDORF --- On Jan. 27 at 3:02 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Tommys Market in the 3600 block of Leonardtown Road in Waldorf for the intrusion alarm. Investigation revealed three suspects forced entry into the business through the front door, stole candy, chips, cigarettes and cigars and fled the scene. The suspects are described as three white males between 16 and 20 years old and were wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-932-7777. Officer S. Kirsch is investigating.
These Bozos Stole 20-Year-Old Ford
BRYANS ROAD --- Sometime between 11 p.m. on Jan. 26 and 6:15 a.m. on Jan. 27, suspect(s) stole a 1985 dark blue Ford Crown Victoria from a parking lot on Hampton Court in Bryans Road and fled the scene. The vehicle has tinted windows and bears Maryland registration MYN112. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-743-2222. LA PLATA --- Sometime between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Jan. 26, suspect(s) entered a residence in the 6200 block of Bumpy Oak Road in La Plata, stole an undisclosed amount of coins, including gold $1 coins, and a tan Desert Storm-style canteen cover and fled the scene. Firetruck Wrecks After Losing Control; Struck Motorist After Crossing Center Line
BRYANS ROAD --- On Jan. 26 at 7:51 a.m., a Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department fire truck driven by James Howard, 31, of Bryans Road was traveling eastbound on Billingsley Road, east of Livingston Road, when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway while negotiating a curve. When the driver attempted to return the vehicle to the roadway, the truck crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Rav4 traveling westbound on Billingsley Road. The fire truck left the left side of the roadway and struck a guide wire to an electrical pole. The driver of the Toyota, Sean McDonald, 31, of Waldorf, sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center. Howard and the three passengers in the fire truckWilliam Beattie, 20, and Jeffery Zyner, 27, both of Bryans Road, and Paul Howard Tackish, 19, of Pomfretwere transported by ambulance to Civista for minor injuries. The fire truck crew was responding to a call with its lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash. Officer R. Taylor is investigating.
