Woman and Boy Hurt in Morning Fatique Wreck
LA PLATA --- On April 25 at 7:14 a.m., a 2002 Cadillac
Escalade was traveling north in the 7500 block of Bumpy Oak Road in La Plata when the
driver, Diann Battle Keye, 46, of Accokeek, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left
the left side of the roadway, struck a telephone pole and then struck a tree. Keye was
trapped in the vehicle but volunteer firefighters extricated her. Keye and a passenger in
the vehicle, a 4-year-old boy, sustained incapacitating injuries. Keye was flown by a
United States Park Police helicopter to Med Star at Washington Hospital Center and the boy
was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Children's Hospital. Their injuries are
said to be non-life-threatening. Driver fatigue is considered a factor. Cpl. S. Walsh of
the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
